Er.. No Thanks.

went to meet my folks in suntec after mass today. the moment i stepped in, this woman looked at me and i was like "oh-oh. she's gonna ask me something". true enuf, she approached me and started talking in chinese (yes, they recog the cheena in me)! i tot maybe she wanted directions or wat.. but i thnk she was saying sth like don't worry.. cant rem wat. den another woman nearby came n was like.. don't be scared blah blah.. in chinese. well obviously i was like "wat the hell?!" and i cldn't understand half of wat they were saying.. i kept huh-ing. well somehow i managed to get wat they wanted.. which is...

TO GO TO THEIR CHURCH!!

geeeeeeez. so of course i kept saying no.. wanted to walk away but the woman kept talking. so finally i just said, "i'm catholic" (in english. how do u say tt in chinese anyway??) in the hope that that wud make them let me go. haha.. i thnk the woman's face changed la.. look of disappointment maybe. she was like "oh." haha. you will not have me!! muahaha.

anyway.. i still cldn't get away! cos then ANOTHER woman came and just rambled on. so the THREE of them were like talking to me. asked me which church i go to n all. i said holy trinity and one woman nodded "ohhhh.." i seriously doubt she noes it. den one asked "so u go to church since young?" yah. "so now u don't go anymore?" i do. anyhow assume tt i don't! said stuff like now students stress blah blah come join us... along those lines lah. i was very civil thruout. haha. smiling n all. i even asked them back "so which church are u all from?" central christian church or sth... unheard of..

can u imagine.. they were staking out at the entrance of suntec! waiting for their targets.. students like me. on one hand, i admire their courage for being able to approach random strangers to evangelise like that. on the other.. i think.. it's not very effective?? i mean. three women old enuf to be my mother.. comin up to me like that.. talking abt sch n all.. asking me to join them oldies? if i were someone who didn't know christ, i think i'd be damn scared? and intimidated.. or more likely, PISSED! i wasnt' pissed... their hearts were in the right place... just er.. the approach was wrong?

in the end i told them i wasn't interested.. got my own church man.. hmm... wat an interesting encounter. later i realised should've asked them to come check out our catholic church instead. good chance to let em christians noe more abt us. hah. think that wud haf scared THEM away. yes.. that's wat i'd do.. if there's a next time.
